EBFA initially identified two sites on the R 72, one at the Fish River bridge (No. 1) and a second at the R72 Shaw Park/lighthouse crossing (No. 2) and commissioned and completed camera installations there.

Camera at R67

A further two cameras sites were recently identified, and installations were commissioned and completed at the Shaw Park Crossroads (No. 3) and on the R67 at the Shaw Park turnoff (No. 4), the latter being the only camera currently monitoring the Port Alfred to Grahamstown Road.

Once funds become available, we will commission a further 2 cameras sites, one on the R67 at the turnoff just past the Big Pineapple to the St Francis Health Centre allowing for a rural connection down to the R72 (No. 5) and the last camera site (No. 6) will be installed at the rural T-junction towards St Francis Health Centre that covers the rural road past Mooifontein Quarry to Port Alfred.

Camera locations

There are already cameras on the road towards Kenton-on-Sea from Port Alfred, installed by the farmers’ association on that side of Port Alfred. Therefore, Port Alfred’s access roads are now completely covered on all sides.

This completed camera system installation will cover both the entrance and exit of the R67 through Bathurst.
